Yvonne Roberts 

Principal | Creative Director

Yvonne Roberts is Principal & Creative Director of Guru of Luxury, Miami Beach, Florida a hospitality design firm specializing in unique, upscale hotels (www.guruofluxury.com). In addition to design, her diverse skill set includes food & wine concepts, health & wellness programming, and social club membership. She also co-founded Legendary Hospitality, a hotel development and management company. As co-principal, Roberts is responsible for conceptual and interior design, property stylization, brand management, and public relations. 

 

A Miami native of Chilean and Danish descent, Roberts developed a passion for food, wine, and entertaining while growing up in Chile, Houston, and Miami. For 25-plus years, Roberts has organized and hosted diverse events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale affairs, overseeing the smallest details, from invitations to catering to décor while maintaining a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. As a professional specializing in luxury properties, she is the quintessential trailblazer, with ideas that enable like-minded savvy travelers to realize the ultimate memorable experience.

In 1994, Roberts was contracted by Miami-based Seaway Hotels for The Biltmore, a historic landmark, and 'Leading Hotels of the World' property. Roberts took on numerous initiatives for Seaway over the years; conceptual interior design of The Biltmore, Alexander Hotel, David William Hotel and Sheraton Design Center; social club membership programming; the hotel's annual Health & Wellness Festival; the Biltmore Food & Wine Festival which generated more than $6 million to benefit local charities. During her tenure, two-plus decades, the Biltmore’s annual membership grew to 2,000-plus distinguished patrons. Its vast and varied events reflected the diversity of its members' experiences and interests, thru wine tasting, art exhibits, and book signings, with celebrity chefs and winemakers from around the world.

 

In 2017 thru 2019, Roberts undertook the conceptual design for comprehensive rehabilitation of the iconic Hotel Retlaw, a historic property in downtown Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. The Retlaw was a complex project which required detailed coordination of historic preservation guidelines through the National Park Service. Roberts received the prestigious 2019 Wisconsin Main Street Awards, for both the city and state, in recognition of outstanding design and interior renovation.
